Accommodation

A room in our student halls of residences is guaranteed to all first-years who apply before the given deadline. We currently have over 2,350 rooms available, rising to 3,000 places in September 2015. All our accommodation is self-catered and the majority of our halls are en-suite.

Most our halls are currently situated at Ffriddoedd Village, and the new St Mary’s student village will open in September 2015.

Bangor University was ranked within the top 10 for accommodation in the What Uni Student Choice Awards 2014.

Student support

Amongst the experiences offered by the Careers and Employability Service to help both your personal and career development are placement programmes, work taster schemes, part-time work, and volunteering and mentoring opportunities.

The Bangor Employability Award is also designed to enhance the immediate and longer-term career prospects of our students.

Entry Requirements

International students must meet both the English language requirement AND the Academic entry requirements listed below:

A) English Language Requirements

To be eligible for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, international students must satisfy English Language Requirements. The level of English required depends on the course you wish to apply for and there are a few exemptions available also.

Fees

The annual tuition fee for international students, applicable for both January 2015 and September 2015 intakes.

the tuition fee any international student will pay may be much lower as we have many attractive scholarships for international students which may go up to full tuition fee waiver.

Coming to Bangor, was my first priority because of its reputed Electronic Engineering Department and excellence in research. I was lucky to be accepted with a full tuition fee scholarship by the Bangor University and living expenses from Memon Communities in Pakistan, along with the best supervisor one could imagine.

The School of Electronic engineering at Bangor University provides variety of advance facilities, such as advanced laboratories and simulation software for conducting research in lasers, modelling along with its experienced staff providing excellent theoretical background and practical knowledge to undergo research in advancing field of Nano Lasers.

While at Bangor, apart from my studies I was fascinated by the Bangor Academic Development Unit which has offered me quality trainings in developing and enhancing my academic skills. Bangor University has also offered me work based experience as a Laboratory demonstrator where I am able to develop my teaching experience and confidence. Bangor University has provided me exposure of attending and presenting my research work at national and international conferences. With a blend of nice academic staff and fellow researchers I am glad that I joined Bangor University on first priority.

HOW THE RESEARCH WORK DONE AT BANGOR WOULD HELP YOU IN YOUR CAREER FORWARD?

The research work done at Bangor University is the design of Nano-Laser, which is the most current and advancing research in the field of semiconductor lasers. Being the one of the recent developments, this opens horizons for my future career as a researcher. The completion of this Doctoral study will enrich me from both academic and experiences, and facilitate me to take part in the rapid developing field of Nano- Lasers.

Bangor University is one of the research-centred universities in UK and provides a full range of programmes and support for international students.

Bangor is scenic and peaceful city to live, where the people are very friendly. The summers in Bangor are really great. The best thing about living in Bangor is that everything is cheap and within walking distance. Moreover, Bangor is surrounded by mountains and sea which is suitable for outdoor activities. You won’t find places like this anywhere in the world which makes it an ideal city for students who are moving here with their family and children.

The international office provides opportunities to prospective students to take part in the International student ambassador scheme, which enables a student to interact with people of different cultural backgrounds, whereby one can develop and enhance their communication skills. It also provides help and support, such as visa application, social gathering and above all organizes cheap trips for students to explore amazing places around UK.
